Mapping Park Equity

Not every community is made equitable with regards to public park access and yet public parks are crucial for the mental, physical, and environmental health of a community. Arlington County, Virginia is no different, despite being ranked #5 best in the nation by the Trust for Public Land’s 2024 ParkScore Index report. This scroll map aims to educate Arlington residents about park equity in their communities and empower Arlington residents to support their public parks in an effort to strengthen their communities. This project is designed to be a simple interface for users to explore the story of mapping park equity in Arlington County, Virginia. The scroll map was created using HTML/CSS and Javascript for an interactive map, with static maps made in ArcGIS Pro and Adobe Illustrator. Click below to explore the scrollmap!
